In a historic milestone for India’s telecommunications sector, Reliance Jio has emerged as the world’s largest telecom operator in data traffic, surpassing China Mobile. Data Traffic Dominance: According to a report by Tefficient, Jio’s network handled a staggering 40.9 Exabytes of data in the first quarter of 2024, outpacing China Mobile’s 38 Exabytes. Second-Largest 5G Subscriber Base: Jio boasts the world’s second-largest 5G subscriber base, with an impressive 108 million users. This remarkable feat reflects Jio’s forward-thinking approach and its ability to meet the evolving needs of consumers.

Rapid Adoption of 5G Technology: Over 28 percent of Jio’s total mobile data traffic is now attributed to 5G users, thanks to initiatives like JioBharat value plans and promotional unlimited 5G offers. Expansion Beyond Mobile Connectivity: Jio’s impact extends beyond mobile connectivity to fixed wireless home broadband services like AirFiber. The service has witnessed robust demand, with record-high quarterly connections across 5,900 towns. Additionally, AirFiber subscribers consume an average of 13 gigabytes of data daily, surpassing JioFiber users by 30 percent, indicating a growing appetite for high-speed internet services among Indian consumers.

Mukesh Ambani’s Vision: Mukesh Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), highlighted Jio’s pivotal role in India’s 5G transformation and its contribution to fostering growth across various sectors of the Indian economy. Monthly per capita data usage has surged from 13.3 GB to 28.7 GB over the past three years, highlighting the indispensable role of digital platforms in enabling remote work, online education, telemedicine, and virtual social interactions.
