Closing of the Stock Exchange On the penultimate day of the trading week, the market continues to fall. Even today, both indexes closed slightly lower. Markets finished with losses in IT and financial equities due to withdrawals of foreign funds and a negative trend in US markets. The Sensex fell 106 points today, while the Nifty fell 13 points. On the last day of the trading week, the stock market also fell. Both the Sensex and the Nifty closed lower today. The Sensex and Nifty fell owing to selling in IT and financial companies, as well as foreign investment outflows and a negative trend in US markets.
The 30-share BSE Sensex wrapped up at 66,160.20 Thursday, down 106.62 points or 0.16 percent on the Indian stock market. It slid 388.17 points, or 0.58 percent, during the day to 65,878.65. The Nifty ended the day at 19,646.05, down 13.85 points or 0.07 percent.
On Thursday, the BSE benchmark fell 440.38 points, or 0.66 percent, to 66,266.82, while the Nifty down 118.40 points, or 0.60 percent, to 19,659.90. NTPC, Power Grid, Mahindra & Mahindra, JSW Steel, Bajaj Finance, ITC, and Reliance Industries closed with gains in the Sensex pack. Whereas, Bajaj Finserv, HDFC Bank, Tata Motors, HCL Technologies, Tata Consultancy Services, Axis Bank, Infosys, IndusInd Bank, Tech Mahindra, and Maruti closed with losses.
The rupee depreciated 32 paise to close at 82.24 against the US dollar in the Friday session, the last day of the trading week. The local unit opened weak at 82.30 against the US dollar at the interbank forex market today. The domestic currency touched a high of 82.19 and a low of 82.34 during intraday trading.
