Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Sunday accused the Adani Group of paying rent of Rs 12 thousand crore and said that if his party gets a chance to form the government at the Center in 2024, the matter related to this business group will be investigated. Congress leaders, citing a news report in the British newspaper ‘Financial Times’, claimed that they ‘want to help’ Prime Minister Narendra Modi in investigating the Adani Group case of theft and saving his credibility. During the meeting of National Congress Party (NCP) President Sharad Pawar with industrialist Gautam Adani, he said that he is not the Prime Minister of the country and is not even defending Adani, hence he does not question the NCP leader.

Rahul Gandhi said that 30 coal shipments of Adani amounting to 31 lakh tonnes between 2019 and 2021 were studied, in which even in a low-margin business like coal trading, there was a profit of 52 percent and this amount came to about Rs 12,000 crore. It is possible. The former Congress President said, ‘Earlier we had talked about Rs 20 thousand crores and asked who is this money and where did it come from? Now it has come to light that the amount of Rs 20 thousand crore was wrong, to which Rs 12 thousand crore have been added. Now the total eligible amount has become Rs 32 thousand crore.

He alleged, ‘Adani ji has a coal industry in Indonesia and as long as Hindustan explores his coal, the dam doubles.’ In this way, Adani ji has taken out Rs 12 thousand crores from the pockets of the people of India. All this is the cost of the plant, the maximum price and the loss of power.

The Congress leader said that this is a case of theft and this theft has been done from the public’s pocket. He claimed, ‘The news of Adani case will bring down any government. This has been told by a person who was protected by the Prime Minister of India and the surprising thing is that this news is not in the media. Highlighting the issue of electricity prices, he said that in many states there is a need to offer concessional rates on electricity and the reason for that is Adani. Rahul Gandhi alleged that the government led by Prime Minister Modi is protecting the Adani Group.
