These notes will be valid until September 30th, 2023, and can be changed at the bank.
This note can be changed by visiting any of the bank’s branches or the RBI’s 19 regional offices. This note can be exchanged for other denominations of currency.
A total of ten ₹ 2000 notes can be exchanged at once. The current limit for exchanging ₹2000 notes is ₹20,000.
If you have a ₹ 2000 rupee note, no shopkeeper can refuse to accept it. This note is still valid. If a bank official or a shopkeeper refuses to accept the note, you can file a complaint by visiting the RBI website https://cms.rbi.org.in/
If the bank receives a fake ₹ 2000 note in any way, it will confiscate that note. In addition, the customer will not receive any currency in exchange for the fake note. If more than four fake notes are discovered, the bank will notify the police.
To exchange notes, no forms will be required. The bank will not charge a fee for note exchange, and no identification is required.
If you deposit more than ₹ 50,000 in cash, the bank will provide information to the Income Tax Department. Following that, the Income Tax Department investigates the matter and, if necessary, takes action. Banks and the Income Tax Department follow the rules in these situations. There is currently no new rule in effect.
The RBI has set the note exchange deadline for September 30th, 2023. Because many people are abroad, it is possible that certain modifications will be made to them after September 30th,2023.
